I have been a member of the health club since the mid eighties and have seen many improvements over this time; the club has continued to provide a close knit and friendly atmosphere.

Personal Training
Our individual one to one sessions will motivate you to achieve your fitness goals. Based on progression at all times from real people who've been in your shoes and understand what you need!
1:1 Pool Programme
Do you struggle to get motivated by the Gym? If this sounds like you then our pool programme may be suited to you! A pool programme is a gentle and easy way to enjoy movement and breathing by using the supportive element of water. The programme combines slow stretching with the use of breathing and relaxation as the water provides resistance for the muscles to work against, therefore stretches performed in the water can feel less difficult than on land.
An Aqua programme is an excellent way to keep fit during pregnancy due to buoyancy of the water and low impact on the joints. Many of the common complaints of pregnancy are due to an inactive lifestyle.
Lower back, neck and knee pain, which are common in pregnancy due to imbalance in the hips and poor posture can be eased, blood pressure can be lowered and there is less risk of exhaustion. An Aqua programme can also help keep Arthritic joints supple and mobile, which may become inflamed during a more intense workout programme.
Gym Games
The club hold regular Gym games to help keep you motivated and to encourage some light hearted compititveness amongst the members! Our most recent Gym Game; Give it a try involves the participant Cycling 8.7 miles, Running or walking 1.9 miles and finally Rowing 2.5 miles! Go on give it a Tri!
This 6 module Nutrition and Weight management course is designed to be informative and non ivasive. The sessions take place on a Wednesday evening in an Academy conference room and the modules can be attended at any any stage. The sessions are also free for Spirit members! The 6 modules are broken down to cover the following topics: -
1. Carbohydrates and Protiens
2. Fats
3. Food Labels
4. Diets and Hydration
5. Vitamins, minerals, caffeine and alcohol
6. Healthy Eating guidelines and eating out
Chair based Exercise
Have you heard of chair based exercise? Chair based exercise is particularly beneficial if you suffer with any of the following; - mobility problems, have trouble walking or standing for longer than 10 minutes, have learning difficulties, get our of breathe easily, suffer with artritis or joint problems or anyone who wants to particpate in a fun exercise class!
Water Babies
Water babies is the Uk’s leading specialist swim school, teaching thousands of babies each week through a growing network of family run businesses. Classes are held in carefully selected warm-water pools across the region. The classes take place at the health club on a Monday morning.
